About me
My name is Lara and I recently trained in body and female intimate waxing. I have a background in printmaking, which is surprisingly similar to waxing: very technical, repetitive, almost meditative.
I am looking to train in male intimate waxing this spring/summer so that I can offer fully inclusive, trans-friendly, gender neutral waxing.
About Waxing
Why wax? I love waxing because it's low maintenance (relative to shaving), it can make you feel light and zingy, and your hair grows back new and softer.
When to wax? In terms of hair growth, it is generally recommended to make an appointment every 4 - 6 weeks. If waxing for a special occasion, holiday, or hot date, book your appointment at least two days before, to allow your skin to settle.
It is recommended that first-time waxers, do a free 5-minute patch test at least 24-hours before your first appointment to check there are no adverse reactions to the products used - especially if you have sensitive skin! If you are a first-time waxer looking to wax for a special occasion such as a wedding, book an appoint 6-weeks in advance to see how your skin reacts as this can be unpredictable. Some people may have no reactions, some mild and others may get folliculitis every time, where some may only experience reactions when their hair is growing back.
In terms of waxing in accordance with the menstrual cycle (if you have one), then the second week – between 7 and 14 days after the first day of your period – is optimal in terms of pain. Though remember that any friction, or activity that causes sweating is not recommended for 48-hours after an intimate wax. You can still have an intimate wax whilst menstruating, if you want, simply insert a fresh tampon before your treatment.
It is safe to wax if you are pregnant, though not recommended in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy if you have had any complications.
My studio
I work from a studio at the back of my house in Easton, Bristol. You can enjoy a view of the garden whilst not being overlooked by anyone.
I use hot (or hard) wax on sensitive areas: arm pits, bikini, intimate waxes and face. And strip (or soft) wax for larger areas: legs and arms.
Hygiene is paramount. A new pair of disposable gloves is used with each client, disposable towels provided for intimate waxes, and there is strictly no double dipping.
I am currently seeing clients on Thursdays and Saturdays, but this will increase in the coming months.
Please get in touch if you have any questions, or if you would like to book on a different day.
